Wide Coils Can Be Finished By Slitting To Width Or Cutting To Length
Once master coils are rolled, annealed and temper rolled, they can be slit to a narrower width or cut lengthwise into sheets. Slitting involves passing the coiled strip through a set of rotating knives that continuously shear the wide coil to the exact width required in narrower coils. Wide or slit coils can also be "sheeted" or cut to a specified length on a shear line, then stacked flat on skids.
